GyM STRACON J.V. provides contract mining services to Sociedad Minera El Brocal S.A. (SMEB) (www.elbrocal.com.pe), a subsidiary of publicly listed Peruvian mining house, Buenaventura (www.buenaventura.com). The open cut poly-metallic mine is located 290km NE of Lima in the province of Pasco. The mine currently produces Lead, Zinc, Silver and Copper, processing approximately 2.5 million tonnes of Ore per annum.
GyM STRACON is responsible for all mining operations including the removal of vegetationand topsoil from mining and dump surfaces, drilling, blasting, loading of Ore and Waste and delivery of Waste to dump areas and Ore to the client's processing plant. All processing of the Ore is undertaken by our client.
Mining is undertaken with conventional earthmoving equipment including hydraulic excavators/shovels and a combination of off highway and on highway trucks. The client is responsible for the geological model and mine design. The services provided by GyM STRACON are done so under a traditional unit rates contract whereby GyM STRACON is paid per cubic meter of material mined. GyM STRACON has 300 personnel (including subcontractors) on site.
