STRACON commenced operations in South America in January 2003 with the establishment of STRACON S.A.C. This company was established following the development of an agreement with Peru 's largest diversified contracting group, Graña y Montero, to jointly provide mining services at the El Brocal mine in Peru, and to target additional opportunities associated with the significant developments occurring in the Peruvian resources industry.

In January 2004, STRACON commenced operations in Argentina, where the company provided services at Barrick's Veladero gold mine. During 2004 STRACON also commenced operations in New Zealand, providing contract mining and construction services throughout the South Island.

STRACON has achieved steady growth and established a solid reputation amongst its clients, consistently obtaining repeat business.
