La Zanja is a new gold mine located 35 km northwest of Cajamarca in the province of Santa Cruz, Peru. 

Minera La Zanja (a JV between Buenaventura and Newmont) have contracted GyM STRACON JV to provide mining services for the operation of San Pedro Sur and Pampa Verde pits, to be undertaken over 5 years from April 2010 and involving the movement of 67.8 million tons of ore and waste.

La Zanja project is scheduled to produce approximately 100,000 ounces of gold per year.

 
     
 
Preparation and training of people in surrounding communities is a key goal for the project, as is maintaining high standards of environmental management in this sensitive area.
